Meet Ross
Coastal Woodenworks is the vision of Ross Duxbury, a Red Seal cabinetmaker with over 20 years of experience crafting personalized, inspired cabinetry for homes and businesses. His passion for woodworking began early, shaped by his father and grandfather – especially time spent in his grandfather’s small Salt Spring Island workshop, where precision and craftsmanship were everything.
After an early career as a pastry chef (honing his eye for detail and artistry), Ross transitioned to cabinetmaking to create lasting pieces rather than fleeting confections. His experience spans custom millwork, furniture shops and large-scale commercial installations, including cabinetry for the Comox Valley and Campbell River hospitals. These high-pressure environments sharpened his skills and revealed industry shortcomings – wasteful practices, impersonal service and a focus on quantity over quality. Determined to do things differently, he founded Coastal Woodenworks.
Ross oversees every project with meticulous care from start to finish, while his wife Jessie helps with the books and administrative side. Whether designing a bespoke kitchen, crafting smart storage solutions or refining a custom build, Ross brings the same exactitude and artistry that have defined his career.

From kitchen and bathroom cabinets to built-ins, entertainment centres and home office storage, our designs fit seamlessly into any space. While we specialize in residential projects, we also create commercial cabinetry, including reception desks, office storage, display shelves and conference tables. Quality is our foundation. We use only high-grade plywood and hardwood – never particle board or melamine. Our cabinets feature durable, pre-finished birch plywood with water-resistant, eco-friendly finishes for a flawless look. Every project starts with a precise 3D layout, ensuring a perfect fit. Clients can be as involved as they like, guaranteeing a final product that reflects their vision and our dedication to craftsmanship.
